Horses Feel Our Presence

Whenever someone sends me a problem horse, or when a horse begins to develop a bad attitude, the first place we look to for answers is usually “is the horse sore?”
If we can rule out health issues, the problem is usually in how that horse relates to its lifestyle. Does it like it’s job? Is his job too hard for him? Why is the horse acting out? Is he pea hearted?
So, we begin changing our work routines, maybe change it up and try difference approaches to training. Back off, avoid pressure. But sometimes, the hostility continues. And we get disappointed in the horse.
What I’ve personally found to be true: is that a Bad attitude stems from a mixture of soreness and poor work ethic. These are things that us humans battle with as well day to day, month to month. But what is the Game Changer for why many horses can persevere through small soreness and tough learning curves is their Mental State. And why others don’t. It’s what separates a mediocre horse from a winner.
While it seems that a Mental State is a hard thing to change in a horse, it actually is not at all. And 90% of the time, their mood is a direct correlation to our mood. Our energy and how we feel about that horse is transmitted to them before we even touch them. And when a horse is on a roll of bad behavior, we approach them already with a negative mindset maybe even subconsciously. We aren’t excited to get on them. We aren’t happy to see them. So, in that horse‘s mind, we don’t like them. They think they suck at their job. Something hurts. And everything sucks.
When we reflect love for an animal, excitement, joy, calmness, and appreciation, a horse perceives that too Without touch. Literally changing nothing but your emotion towards a horse can change how that horse acts. A horse’s entire demeanor can change in a week. Their anxiety, depression and anger can all disappear. And you can create a mind that begs to be with you and learn. A horse that seeks your approval. Looks forward to seeing you.
If our emotions can impact a horse and manipulate its outlook on life to this degree non-verbally, just think how we make other people feel in our lives everyday with the mood that we transmit.
